UFC Fight Night Betting Preview

UFC president Dana White may try and say otherwise, but there is no question that the smaller octagon being used by the UFC at Apex in Las Vegas is having an influence on the fights. It’s not a bad thing, but it is a very real thing, as last Saturday we saw the first three fights of the night all end inside a minute – the first time that’s ever happened.

The most impressive of those knockouts belonged to Tyson Nam, who dropped Zarrukh Adashev with one punch to record his first-ever UFC win at the age of 36. You just never know what’s going to happen, and that is only amplified by the smaller octagon.

This Week’s Fight Card

Twelve more fights from Apex fill out this weekend’s card, with the main event coming courtesy of the heavyweight showdown between Curtis Blaydes and Alexander Volkov. The card and odds are as follows:

  • Jim Miller (+185) vs. Roosevelt Roberts (-240)
  • Brianna Van Buren (-210) vs. Tecia Torres (+165)
  • Bobby Green (-240) vs. Clay Guida (+185)
  • Josh Emmett (+110) vs. Shane Burgos (-137)
  • Marion Reneau (+120) vs. Raquel Pennington (-152)
  • Belal Muhammad (-125) vs. Lyman Good (+100)
  • Roxanne Modafferi (-124) vs. Lauren Murphy (+100)
  • Austin Hubbard (+144) vs. Max Rohskopf (-182)
  • Frank Camacho (+100) vs. Matt Frevola (-124)
  • Cortney Casey (+100) vs. Gillian Robertson (-124)
  • Oskar Piechota (-129) vs. Marc-Andrew Barriault (+103)
  • Curtis Blaydes (-400) vs. Alexander Volkov (+300)

Blaydes and Volkov are both top-10 heavyweights, and even though Blaydes is the heavy favorite, it’s worth noting that Volkov has won seven of his last 10 fights. That includes his most recent win, a unanimous decision over Greg Hardy in November.

Also worth knowing before you place any bets is that Blaydes has won each of his last two fights before the end of the second round.

Welterweight Bout

One other fight to watch is Belal Muhammad and Lyman Good. It’s a close welterweight matchup, and the storylines are quite interesting. Four years ago, they were supposed to fight, but Good was replaced after he tested positive for a banned supplement.

In April, they were scheduled to fight again, but this time, Good tested positive for COVID-19 and again had to withdraw. Now, fingers crossed, they will finally fight.
