NASCAR QuikTrip 500 Betting Tips

Without fans in the stands, it might not feel exactly like live racing, but give NASCAR credit for the effort. At this Sunday’s QuikTrip 500 from Atlanta Motor Speedway, NASCAR fans will experience a first – a virtual tailgate party.

Beginning at 1:45 pm Eastern, and taking fans up to the 3 pm race, fans will enjoy live music, interviews with drivers, and behind-the-scenes tours. The race is always one of the more patriotic on the schedule because of its affiliation with Folds of Honor – a non-profit charity that provides educational scholarships to the family members of fallen service members. It will also have a military flyover before it starts.

May Results

As we look ahead to the odds and suggested bets for the QuikTrip 500, it’s always a good idea to take a look back. And doing that, it’s hard to ignore the good fortune that has struck Brad Keselowski.

A winner in extra time at the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte, NC, last weekend, he took the checkered flag at the Supermarket Heroes 500 in Bristol after Joey Logano and Chase Elliott crashed with two laps to go.

Keselowski said of the victory, “We kind of got a Christmas present.” But you have to make your own luck too, and it was Keselowski who had himself in position to take advantage of the wreck, and it was Keselowski who held off Clint Bowyer at the very end to take the win.

They say it’s better to be lucky than good, but with a pair of wins in the last three Cup races, Keselowski has been both. He’s also won two of the last three runnings of this race.

But even after his successes, he is still only the fifth-most likely winner in Atlanta on Sunday. A good bet, perhaps?

NASCAR

Here are the top 10 odds for the race:

  • Kevin Harvick +475
  • Chase Elliott +600
  • Martin Truex, Jr. +700
  • Kyle Busch +700
  • Brad Keselowski +850
  • Joey Logano +850
  • Alex Bowman +850
  • Denny Hamlin +1200
  • Ryan Blaney +1500
  • Jimmie Johnson +1800

A couple of notes about this group. The favorite, Harvick, is always in the mix in Atlanta, with 11 top 10 finishes and more than 100 laps at the front in six of his last eight races there. But, and this is an important but, he only has two career wins in 29 starts.

If you’re looking for more of a longshot, Johnson at +1800 has five career Atlanta wins and another four second-place finishes. And Johnson just finished third at Bristol last weekend, so he and his team are currently running well.
